The "door" embodies boundaries and choices, serving as both a portal to the unknown and a barrielguarding the past. in an era where technology reconstructs reality, the form of the "door" hastranscended physical thresholds-algorithms weave "invisible gates" that define fairness, screensrefract "shadowy gates" that devour human warmth, and every act of pushing through a doorinterrogates the tension between free will and predetermined paths.As technology dissolves the boundary between virtual and real, the collusion of flesh and dataquietly reshapes the fabric of human connection, ldentities flow through the fissures betweentraditional constraints and technological upheaval, as a new generation awakens, striving to redefine'who l am" through symbols and code. When algorithmic gears interlock with precision, does thepredesigned "gate" still leave room for the flicker of serendipity?Titled The Space Between, the 2025 Bachelor’s Graduation Exhibition of the Arts and Technologyprogram at Xi’ an Jiaotong-Liverpool University features 56 graduates wielding art as a blade todissect contemporary dilemmas: from the fog of techno-ethics and the chaos of virtual-realentanglement, to the struggle of fluid identities, the erosion of agency, and the silence of unchosenpaths. Here, doors are not merely spatial markers but metaphors for power, freedom, andawakening.

The exhibition culminates in a blank expanse ajar door frames, suspended answers, and silentreflections. lf all gates have already been pushed open, perhaps true light resides not beyondthresholds, but in the clarity before pushing and the初心 (ch üx i n, "original intent") within choices.Before the dust settles, the world beyond the door is never the end.Only in the moment of reaching out is the gravity of choice illuminated.
